Note from the President- This newsletter will be shorter than normal
due to the fact that I have been working on the June 13th, 2015
Michigan Hosta Society Garden Walk
hosted by Eastern Michigan Hosta Society.
A full color Tour booklet complete with directions to each tour site and
a description of each site has been completed and printed. Flyers have also been made with the tour
information on the front and directions on the back. On the flyer there is a QR Code that can be
scanned and will take you to the EMHS blog site which has all the tour
information.
For those of you that receive your newsletter by email you
will find the tour guide and the flyer as attachments to this newsletter. I am sending the tour booklet in an email
format which is not printer friendly, if you want the printer friendly format
please email me and I will send it out to you.
Marlene is making sign-up sheets to have the membership volunteer
to make cookies and work at a site the day of the tour. Please consider making a few dozen cookies
and giving a few hours of your time the day of the tour to help out at one or
more of the tour sites. Help is needed
to make sure refreshments are kept supplied, help direct people at the tour
site, answer questions, etc.
For those members that help out the day of the tour we will
have a private tour of our own on Sunday June 14th, 2015. This tour will start at the Hodgson’s in
Lapeer at 11:00 AM and end at Pace Gardens in Clio. At Pace Gardens we will have a lunch to
celebrate the tour.
Our speaker the May 14th meeting will be Dr.
Stuart Swan. Dr. Swan is a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine
practicing in Davison, MI. Dr. Swan will
present Gardening Without Pain.
This program should give all of us a few bits of information on how to
prevent injury during the spring clean-up of our gardens.
Since I missed conducting the vote at the last meeting we
will discuss and conduct a vote of the by-law changes at the May 14th
meeting. You will find the changes in
more detail later in this newsletter.
The 2015 EMHS Plant Sale orders will be delivered at the May
14th meeting. Please be
present to pick up your order. If you
will not be at the meeting, please make prior arrangements with Glen.
See you at the May 14th meeting,

two by-laws clarifications (clarifications as these topics are not covered in
the current by-laws) as follows;
Subject - Amount the
President is authorized to spend (in the interest of the club) without board
approval.
Board approved - $500 with
an amendment to by laws be made.
Subject – Amount EMHS
will pay (as a general amount) to a regular speaker.

(unless speaker is traveling a distance over 30 miles, then fee will be $125).
This subject will be discussed at the
meeting with a vote ensuing to make the by-law changes.

need of EMHS volunteers to help at each of the sites and to make refreshments
for each of the tour sites. Marlene is
making sign-up sheets to have at the May 14th meeting so you can chose
where to help on tour day.
