June 2016 Newsletter

Note from the President-   The plants from the EMHS Annual Plant Sale were delivered at the May 12th, 2016 meeting.  All plants were delivered and all of the extra plants ordered were purchased by club members.  This year’s plant sale consisted of 6 different Hosta and a total of 95 plants were sold.  After the shipping costs were paid, the club’s profit was $XX.XX.  This is EMHS’s biggest fund raiser of the year and thanks to our members the 2016 sale was a big success.

If anybody that ordered plants from the plant sale wants their order sheet I will have them at the meeting.  I kept the order forms to complete the paperwork of the sale and now that it is completed the forms can be given to the respective members.

At the May meeting Patrick and Patricia Major offered to host the June meeting at their gardens in Goodrich.  For those of you that have not been to the Major’s you are in for a surprise and all of us are in for a treat.  The Majors’ have gardens in sun, gardens in the woods, and gardens at lakeside all of which are beautifully cared for and feature a large variety of Hosta.  Patrick and Patricia, we thank you for hosting the June meeting and for sharing your beautiful gardens with the members of EMHS.

The summer meetings of EMHS feature tours of our member’s gardens, so a few things to remember;
Bring your own folding chair to sit in
Bring your favorite dish to pass for the potluck
The club provides the plates and flatware
Bring insect repellent
Dress for the weather (sunscreen/umbrella)
Be prepared to have a great time
Leave once the meeting is dismissed to give the gardener time to unwind after the meeting

See you at the June 9th meeting,
Glen Pace
EMHS President
