The Meeting – was held at the Mayfield Twp. Hall
Refreshments – The meeting was called to order at 6:30
PM by President Glen Pace. Everyone enjoyed the lovely Christmas potluck and
ham dinner.
Business Meeting – the meeting was called back to order at
7:00 PM by President Glen Pace. Glen thanked the board members, Jan and Ken
Zawisa, and the membership for all the hard work that goes into making our club
a success, by bringing the yummy food for the potlucks, donations to the
monthly raffles and door prizes and to those that volunteered their homes and
gardens for the membership to enjoy. Glen Pace also asked the membership to
remember the loss of losing long time member Bill Kapuska and to keep member
Pat Salk in our thoughts and prayers.
Mark Hanner also thanked Glen Pace for his dedication to this club and
helping to make it educational and enjoyable.
Approval of Minutes – there were no changes in the minutes
from the October 2018 meeting. A motion to accept the minutes was made by Becky
Hanner and it was seconded by Dyane Moore. The membership voted to accept the
October 2018 minutes.
Treasurers Report – Barb Hunter, treasurer gave a report
for September, October and November 2018. In September we had a beginning
balance of $XXX.xx, with an income of $XX.xx. No expenditures, leaving the
month of September 2018 with an ending balance of $XXX.xx. October 2018, had a
beginning balance of $XXX.xx, no income and no expenditures leaving the month
of October 2018 with an ending balance of $XXX.xx. November had a beginning
balance of $XXX.xx no income and no expenditures for the month left an ending
balance of $XXX.xx for the month of November.
A motion was made by Bruce Pollard to accept the treasurer reports and
it was seconded by Joy Boots. Membership voted to accept the September, October
and November 2018 treasurer reports.
Spring plant sale – Cathy Hodgson presented the membership
with the names of the plants that will be available for the membership to buy
at $10.00 each, and only 1 plant of each variety per household can be ordered.
Calendar of Events for 2019 – Glen Pace went over the calendar of
events for 2019, which can be viewed on the EMHS blog.
Hosta College – The board will be paying the
registration fee for 4 members who are in good standing to attend Hosta
College. They will be responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and
any additional class fees. Glen Pace
will send out an email to the membership and request that every member
interested respond to that email by a certain date. Glen Pace will then do a
random drawing of all members that responded then notify those winners. Glen has no conflict of interest because his
registration is paid because he is an instructor for Hosta College. Some people will be staying at the Holiday Inn in Troy, Ohio.
Rooms have been blocked for those who would like to stay there instead of the
hotel the Hosta College recommends.
MHS membership – The board also decided it would pay for
email membership to MHS for EMHS members interested in joining MHS. Please let
Glen Pace, President know if you are interested in becoming an email member of
MHS. This is an email newsletter only, no snail mail.
Election of Officers – This year the office of Secretary and
Vice-President are up. If no volunteers Marlene Daniels, Secretary and Becky
Hanner, Vice-President have said they would stay on.
Name Badges – Sign sheet if you need one. First one
free and replacements are $2.00 each. Please save the magnet from the back of a
ruined badge to save cost.
Other Announcements – Joy Boots would like to make a book of
suggestions, tips, questions that club members could use. Please let her know if you have any special
tips and send them to her.
Gift Exchange – Participation was for those that
brought a gift to the exchange. Fun was had by all.
Next meeting – February 14th, 2019 is our next
meeting, at the Mayfield Twp. Hall. Esther Benedict from Nappanee, IN will be
our guest speaker.
